I just cant believe how fast these weeks have been flying by.
Monday I hung out with Ryan most of the day since he was leaving to go back to LA.
Tuesday was our first day of school, it flew by. I was a little concerned early on in the day, well actually I was in tears. I made the decision early on to put Sierra in the younger class instead of the middle school class. They just cant modify it down to her level for all the classes its just to hard and not fair to the other students in the class and I felt Seirra would be too overwhelmed and she starts mentally checking out. Anyway back to the first day. She is in a class where all the kids are much, much younger than her and much smaller. So that first morning I watched her (because I am in the class with her some during the day) and she looked like a giant sitting in the small desk up against all the other kids and it just really hit me hard how far behind she is. I had to get up and leave and take a breather outside. She seems to be ok with it I am the one with the problem. Some of the stuff they are doing she already knows so she feels so proud when she knows the answer and that gives her confidence, but alot of it she doesnt know and that tells me she is where she needs to be. She does have lunch with the middle school kids and she has one class with them that the Mellisa (the principle ) teaches and she is able to put those lessons down to her level. The first day was o.k. for me I am not used to teaching teenagers I think I would rather deal with 3 and 4 year olds. But by Thursday things were going pretty good. Between the three classes the high school class is turning out to be my favorite. (who would have thunk it) Now the 3 hours in the car I can do without but I know it will all be worth it. Wednesday ryan and Brent left for LA. Thursday Sierra had a sleep over with a new friend at school and I came home and took Halie and friends to watch Guyer high school `s pruduction of "SWEENY TODD" and it was amazing, I have seen Broadway plays in New York and this play was just as good. Friday I had all kinds of appointments then came home and waited for Ryan to fly in. With the hurricane coming in and the wind blowing so hard is plane was canceled, but after hanging around the airport for several hours they were put on a later plan and made it home before nine (he was suppose to be home by 4:30) Saturday we got up early and drove to Powderly for my Granny Belles 80th birthday party, and no hurricane could have stopped us. They had the horse barn cleaned out by the time we got and we helped set up and put the decorations I made out. We had a really good turn out despite the hurricane that was going on. Granny Belle and PaPaw seemed to enjoy themselves. I know that every family event we have now is special and I try to set back and take in every moment and store them away in my memory. We decided to drive back home that night despite the weather.
Sunday all the rain was gone and it ended up being a beautiful day even though we spent most of the day watching football. And life starts back over again tomorrow.
